No fewer than 11 persons have died in a lone accident on Eruku Bridge along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps Ogun Command, the accident occurred on Sunday night involving a gold Toyota vehicle with registration number GGE 722 KJ.
The Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, said the vehicle somersaulted and plunged off the bridge, trapping all occupants inside.
All 11 occupants — 10 adult males and one adult female — died in the crash.
FRSC officials, with support from residents, recovered the bodies from the wreckage and deposited them at the State Specialist Hospital morgue in Ifo.
The FRSC attributed the accident to suspected drunk driving and overloading, while urging motorists to exercise caution, especially during night travel.
