Tinubu touches down in Riyadh for World Economic Forum⁣⁣

Upon his arrival in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, President Bola Tinubu is set to take part in the 2024 Special World Economic Forum focusing on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development.

The high-level forum in Riyadh is expected to be attended by over 1,000 leaders representing business, government, and academia from more than 90 countries.⁣⁣
Discussions will revolve around the actions taken since the inaugural Growth Summit in Geneva, Switzerland in 2023. ⁣⁣
“During this gathering, Tinubu and his delegation will engage in discussions about his vision for the country’s future,” announced the President’s spokesperson, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement issued last Monday. ⁣⁣
The leaders in Riyadh will tackle critical global challenges within three main themes: revitalizing global collaboration, promoting inclusive growth, and driving action on energy for development.⁣⁣
The SWEF concept note states that the event aims to “bridge the increasing North-South disparity heightened by emerging economic strategies, the energy shift, and geopolitical disruptions.”⁣⁣
This visit to Riyadh marks Tinubu’s second trip to the Gulf nation in the last five months.⁣⁣
Since assuming office 11 months ago, he has visited a total of 19 foreign destinations including Paris, France (three times); London, United Kingdom; Bissau, Guinea-Bissau (twice); Nairobi, Kenya; Porto Norvo, Benin Republic; New Delhi, India; Abu Dhabi and Dubai, United Arab Emirates; New York, United States of America; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Berlin, Germany; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Dakar, Senegal; Doha, Qatar; and The Hague, The Netherlands.
