Dismissed Soldier and Three Others Handed Over to Police by Nigerian Army for Alleged Impersonation

Confirmation was made by the Lagos State Police Command regarding the handover of a dismissed soldier and three other individuals by the Nigerian Army on charges of impersonation. This disclosure was made by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement to journalists on Sunday.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that one Army Captain from Dodan Barracks, Obalende, presented the four suspects to the Onikan Police Division at 5:01 pm on Friday. The suspects, who had no fixed addresses, included one individual who had been discharged from the Army in 2016.

It was revealed by Hundeyin that the suspects were apprehended wearing camouflage t-shirts and face caps bearing the insignia of the Nigerian Army. He mentioned that during questioning, it was uncovered that the suspects regularly engaged in criminal activities while wearing military attire and used it to evade checkpoints.

He added, “Efforts are underway to determine how the suspects acquired the army uniforms. The investigation is currently ongoing.”
