Successful Police Operation Leads to Rescue of Two Kidnap Victims in Delta State

Two individuals who had been kidnapped were successfully rescued by the Delta State police command from a kidnappers’ hideout located in Okuno, Orogun.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, directed DPO Abraka Division, SP Fabian Ayameh, to lead a team of police operatives to the location of the suspected kidnappers.

Swiftly mobilizing police personnel, along with members of the Abraka vigilante and hunters, the operation unfolded with a fierce confrontation with the alleged kidnappers resulting in one suspect sustaining severe gunshot wounds, while the others managed to escape.

SP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state, confirmed the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition during the operation.

Both kidnapped victims, whose identities have been withheld, were rescued unharmed and subsequently reunited with their families. Sadly, the injured suspect succumbed to his injuries while undergoing medical treatment at the hospital.

A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the remaining suspects who fled from the scene.

This rescue operation is believed to be linked to the tragic incident involving the murder of a young man in Abavo at Okpe village and the killing of Mr. Beye, the branch chairman of a vigilante group, who was attacked while attempting to rescue kidnapped victims in the area.
