The Commencement of the Demolition of Affected Properties by the Federal Government for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Right of Way



Commencement of the demolition of properties affected by the right of way on the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway construction has been initiated by the Federal Government.

In a statement released by Mr. Orji Uchenna, the Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, the minister disclosed this development in Abuja on Sunday.

According to Umahi, the project symbolizes a significant milestone in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope roadmap towards economic diversification.

He assured, “The Federal Government is committed to the welfare of the people and will approach the demolition of properties required for the construction of the coastal highway with empathy.”

Umahi further remarked, “The Federal Government is actively exploring the most financially feasible method to construct the coastal road while minimizing disruptions.”

“Timely compensation for impacted property owners will be ensured without any delays,” he added. “Your cooperation in adhering to the demolition schedule is requested.”

“We are making minor adjustments, and our primary aim is to follow the coastline,” Umahi stated.

Umahi urged those impacted by the demolition process to view it as a contribution to the long-term positive effects of the project on the nation’s economic prosperity.
