Following the recent declaration of a nationwide strike action by the Organized Labour, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has expressed commiserations with Nigerians, and said doctors will be at their duty posts to attend to patients.

The National Secretary, Dr. Benjamin Egbo, said: “NMA is not an affiliate of the Organized Labour in Nigeria, and as such, not declared a strike action.

“Though, NMA is not an affiliate of the Organized labour in Nigeria, but we share the pains and hardship Nigerians are currently grappling with.

“NMA has not declared a strike action, hence, doctors will be at their duty posts to attend to patients who desire health services.”

The group called on government, and other stakeholders to look into the plights of average Nigerian and address the issues which culminated into the current nationwide strike.

“NMA uses this avenue to call on government as well as all stakeholders to consider the plights of average Nigerian and do everything possible to address the issues that have led to the present impasse”, he added.
