The North-West Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Garba Datti Muhammad, has described President Bola Tinubu’s decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 general election as a strategic move that would strengthen the party’s electoral prospects.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Datti congratulated Shettima on his re-nomination, saying the decision reflected President Tinubu’s confidence in the Vice President’s loyalty, competence and dedication to national service.
He praised the President for retaining Shettima, describing him as a dependable partner whose performance in office had earned the trust of many Nigerians.
“I sincerely congratulate the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, on his re-nomination by the President. This action by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a demonstration of his trust and confidence in the Vice President,” Datti said.
“So far, Nigeria and Nigerians are well pleased with the Vice President for his loyalty and commitment to his fatherland.”
According to the APC chieftain, the decision is a strategic political calculation that will further strengthen the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election.
He added that President Tinubu had once again demonstrated political foresight through the move, insisting that the APC remained the party to beat in the next election.
“The President has once again displayed his political sagacity with this decision. The APC remains the party to beat in the next general elections,” he said.
Datti also called on APC members and Nigerians to continue supporting the Tinubu administration as it implements its policies and development programmes.
