2027: Olawepo-Hashim Group Intensifies Northern Mobilisation In Kaduna

The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement has intensified grassroots mobilisation across Northern Nigeria, scaling up activities in Kaduna State as part of early preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a former presidential candidate and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has recently stepped up consultations ahead of the 2027 polls, holding separate high-level meetings with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (retd).

The movement reaffirmed its commitment on Tuesday during an engagement with local mobilisation teams in Kaduna, where ongoing activities were reviewed and members were urged to sustain momentum ahead of the elections.

Speaking at the meeting, the National Coordinator of the movement, Mr Abdurazak Hamzat, said the Kaduna visit was part of a broader nationwide consultation aimed at strengthening the group’s presence at state and grassroots levels.

Hamzat said the movement was focused on what he described as safeguarding Nigeria through sustained citizen engagement and grassroots mobilisation across the federation.

According to him, the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement has established several mobilisation structures nationwide, with Kaduna State hosting four separate groups spread across different local government areas.

He explained that the movement operates through various solidarity platforms united by a shared national objective of promoting good governance and national renewal.

“Our message to Nigerians as we approach the 2027 general elections is clear: citizens must actively safeguard the country from misrule and misgovernance,” Hamzat said.

He added that the movement remained resolute in mobilising Nigerians across regions, irrespective of prevailing political challenges.

Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to Dr Gbenga Hashim, Mr Kamal Sani, described the movement as focused and steadily growing, expressing optimism about its future prospects.

Sani attributed the group’s growth to the calibre of individuals involved and what he described as divine guidance, noting that it was well positioned to make a positive contribution to Nigeria’s future.

He portrayed Dr Hashim as a unifier and bridge-builder, citing his background in politics and business, as well as his long-standing involvement in national development initiatives.

According to him, Hashim’s cross-regional and interfaith relationships place him in a unique position to foster unity and collective progress across the country.

In his remarks, the Kaduna State Coordinator of the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement, Comrade Ahmed Sabo Jimeta, commended the dedication of grassroots mobilisers working to advance the group’s objectives.

Jimeta expressed appreciation to supporters across the state, particularly women and youths, describing their participation as critical to sustaining the movement’s momentum.

He said the level of commitment demonstrated by members in Kaduna reflected a unity of purpose and reaffirmed the group’s resolve to support Dr Hashim’s presidential aspiration ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a related development, another pro-Hashim group, the GOH Front, led by Muhammad Aliyu Kacham, called on coordinators across Kaduna’s 23 local government areas to intensify mobilisation efforts.

The one-day event attracted hundreds of supporters who paid tributes to the Kebbi-born politician and businessman.

Dignitaries in attendance included Dr Ibrahim Umar, Alhaji Muhammad Zanna, Alhaji Muhammad Danmaliki and Amina Ibrahim, among others.ENDS.
