The Abia State Government has announced plans to hold a solemn burial service in honour of the late Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, in recognition of his impactful life, spiritual contributions, and enduring legacy within and beyond the state.
The burial service is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, with proceedings set to commence at 10:00 a.m. The event is expected to attract dignitaries, religious leaders, government officials, and admirers from across the country who will gather to pay their last respects to the revered cleric.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, made this known on Monday while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by the Governor.
He noted that the decision reflects the government’s recognition of the late Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai’s immense contributions to faith-based development, moral leadership, and societal transformation.
The planned state burial underscores the administration’s commitment to honouring distinguished individuals whose lives and works have left a lasting imprint on the people of Abia State and the nation at large.
