The lawmaker representing the Ukwa East State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Lewis Obianyi, has fulfilled a major campaign promise by flagging off the construction of the Obohia Ndoki Mini-Stadium.
Describing this project as his “legacy project”, Hon. Obianyi aims to boost grassroots sports development and foster unity in the constituency.
During the flag-off ceremony on Tuesday, he stated, “This project is not just a campaign promise; it is my legacy to the people. It will enhance youth development, promote unity, and reposition our constituency on the sporting map of the state.”
The event was attended by various stakeholders, including community leaders, youths, members of the Anglican clergy, and political supporters.
His Lordship, Rt Rev. Manasses Okere, Anglican Bishop of Ukwa Diocese, formally flagged off the project and commended Hon. Obianyi’s energetic and focused approach to governance.
Hon. Stella Igbokwe, former Transition Chairman of Ukwa East Local Government, praised Hon. Obianyi as a “pragmatic and people-oriented lawmaker”, urging him to remain steadfast in his commitment to good governance.
Chief Enyinna Benson, Chairman of the Obohia Council of Mbichiriezi, lauded Hon. Obianyi’s integrity and pledged the community’s full support for the project, saying, “We are proud of our son, and we will do everything possible to support this project to the finish line.”
Former member of the Abia House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emeka Stanley, also praised Hon. Obianyi for his “humility, effectiveness, and swift delivery of promises”.
The youths of Obohia Ndoki hailed Hon. Obianyi, affectionately known as OCHINANWATA, for his impactful grassroots development efforts, with one youth leader stating, “This stadium represents hope, progress, and unity for our youth. OCHINANWATA has raised the bar.”
