Accountant General To Testify Against Former Kwara Governor In N5.78bn Case

A former Accountant General of Kwara State, Alhaji Suleiman Oluwadare Ishola, is expected to testify against former governor of the state, Abdulfatah Ahmed, who is facing charges of misappropriating N5.78 billion along with his commissioner for finance, Ademola Banu.

Ishola has been listed as a key witness for the prosecution in the alleged fraud case.

The trial of the former governor is currently ongoing before Justice Mahmud Abdulgafar of the Kwara State High Court, sitting in Ilorin.
Ahmed and his co-defendant were accused of conspiring to divert funds to the tune of N5.78bn meant for the payment of teachers’ salaries under the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the provision of basic infrastructure for primary and junior secondary schools, and security initiatives in the state.

At today’s sitting, proceedings are expected to continue with the testimony of the former Accountant General of the state.
