BREAKING: Fire razes bungalow in Lugbe

A fire outbreak destroyed a bungalow in the Federal Housing Authority estate in Lugbe, Abuja, with no casualties recorded.

A fire outbreak on Saturday evening razed a bungalow building located within the environmental axis of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) estate in Lugbe, along Airport Road, Abuja.

Residents said the building went up in flames shortly after electricity was restored to the area.

“The occupants of the building are not around. The fire started after they brought light. Everything has burnt down,” a resident told PREMIUM TIMES at the scene.

Fire service officials were said to have responded after being alerted. However, some residents criticised the pace of the response.

“The fire has been burning for about an hour. The fire service guys could not extinguish it,” another resident said.

At least three fire service trucks, with personnel fully kitted, were seen at the scene battling to put out the flames.

No fatalities were recorded.

Dozens of residents gathered at the scene, watching as emergency responders struggled to contain the fire.

PREMIUM TIMES observed that the building, located in a fenced compound with a red-coloured gate has been completely destroyed.
