BREAKING: Gunmen abduct wife, twin children of ex-minister Adelabu’s brother in Ibadan

Unknown gunmen have abducted the younger sister of Adebayo Adelabu, former minister of power and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo state, along with her twin children in Ibadan..

The victims were reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday morning at the Elewura area of Challenge in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the incident, Femi Awogboro, one of Adelabu’s media aides said the family members were on their way out of the area when they were attacked and taken away by the assailants.

According to him, the victims were heading towards the expressway when armed men intercepted them and whisked them away to an unknown destination.

“Adelabu’s younger sister and her twin children, Peter and Paul, were kidnapped this morning by unknown gunmen at Elewura, Challenge, Ibadan.

The family members were going out when the attackers struck and abducted them,” Awogboro said.

The latest abduction comes amid growing security concerns in Oyo state following a series of kidnapping incidents.

The state has recently witnessed heightened anxiety over the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area, where more than 40 students and school workers were reportedly kidnapped during an attack on a community in May.

The incident has also revived memories of the December 2025 abduction of APC chieftain Wale Oriade, who was seized by gunmen in Ibadan and taken to an unknown location.

When contacted, CSP Adewale Osifeso, the police public relations officer in Oyo state had yet to officially confirm the development.

However, Olayinka Ayanlade, another police spokesman said he could not independently verify the report at the time of filing this report.
