The pupils, teachers and others abducted from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom after spending 56 days in captivity.
Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed their release on Friday in a post on X.
He wrote: “One of the rescued teachers in Oyo sends a thank you message to President Tinubu and the security agencies.”
Details of how the victims were rescued and whether any ransom was paid were not immediately disclosed.
The victims were abducted on May 15 when armed men stormed Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, and L.A. Primary School, Ahoro-Esinle, in Oriire Local Government Area.
The attackers whisked away 49 people, including schoolchildren, teachers and a toddler.
Days after the abduction, the kidnappers released a video showing the beheading of one of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun.
