BREAKING: Reps Summon Service Chiefs, NSA Ribadu Over Rising Insecurity

The House of Representatives has summoned National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, alongside the nation’s service chiefs, to appear before lawmakers over the deteriorating security situation across Nigeria.

The resolution was adopted on Tuesday during plenary following a motion moved by Hon. Sulaiman Gumi, who represents the Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency of Zamfara State.

Lawmakers expressed deep concern over the persistent wave of killings, kidnappings, banditry, terrorism and other violent crimes across the country, despite repeated assurances from security agencies and the Federal Government.

The summons comes amid rising public anger over recent attacks on schools in Oyo and Borno States, where dozens of pupils, teachers and school staff were abducted by armed groups.

It also follows President Bola Tinubu’s earlier assurance that his administration was working to secure the release of abducted schoolchildren and teachers still in captivity.

The House of Representatives’ decision to summon the NSA and service chiefs is expected to mount further pressure on security agencies to explain ongoing efforts to address the worsening crisis and secure the release of victims still held by kidnappers and terrorists.
