President Bola Tinubu has approved the postings of 65 ambassadors and high commissioners to countries across four continents.
They include political figures, retired military officers, and career diplomats to represent Nigeria’s interests abroad.
The list, announced by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Thursday, comprises 31 non-career and 34 career ambassadors whose appointments were confirmed by the Senate in December.
Among the non-career list is Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide who has been posted to Mexico City.
Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister and one-time fierce critic of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was deployed as Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany.
Former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmud Yakubu, was posted to Qatar, while former Abia State Governor Victor Ikpeazu, was sent to Spain.
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim was named Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

According to Onanuga, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agrément from the United Kingdom for the High Commissioner-designate, Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu. Similarly, France has sent the agrément for Ambassador Ayo Oke.
“The Ministry has also conveyed the nominations of the other 62 designated envoys to all the countries concerned, including a request for their agréments in line with standard diplomatic practice.
“President Tinubu has directed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should immediately commence the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and High Commissioners.”
