“Caught On TikTok” — Kano Police Arrest Two Notorious Thugs Over Online Violence

The Kano State Police Command on Thursday announced the arrest of two notorious thugs for allegedly inciting violence and brandishing dangerous weapons in videos circulated on social media.

The suspects, Mohammed Isma’il, also known as Linga, and Sani Abdulsalam, known as Guchi, both residents of Dala Quarters in Dala Local Government Area of Kano metropolis, were apprehended in an intelligence-led operation. The arrests followed multiple online posts showing the men wielding weapons and rallying youths in their neighborhood.

During the operation, a sword and two clubs were recovered from the suspects, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said.

Kiyawa noted that the thugs had been using platforms such as TikTok and Facebook to spread videos that instilled fear and threatened public peace. He added that their actions had contributed to growing concerns over youth involvement in criminal activities across the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who ordered the operation, has directed a comprehensive investigation into the suspects’ activities. The CP also warned that anyone posting videos with weapons or engaging in acts of thuggery will face arrest and prosecution.
