CJN Kekere-Ekun Approves Applications For Lawyers Seeking Notary Public Status

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Motomori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, has given approval for lawyers in the country to begin submitting applications for appointment as Notaries Public through a newly launched online platform.

According to a statement on Wednesday, the Supreme Court’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Festus Akande, said it is landmark innovation by the Court and expected to transform the long-standing paper-based process into a modern, digital system that enhances transparency, speed, and accessibility.

Akande added that qualified legal practitioners can now process their applications via the secure portal https://notary.gov.ng.

He explained that the new system reflects the judiciary’s commitment to embracing technology for greater efficiency.

“This pivotal decision underscores the judiciary’s unwavering commitment to digital innovation, improved service delivery, and fostering accessibility within the legal community,” he said.

He added that the digital platform is designed to simplify submissions, reduce administrative bottlenecks, and fast-track the review of applications.

The site also features a step-by-step guide to assist applicants throughout the process.
