A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Kano Central Senatorial candidate in the 2023 elections, Alhaji Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura, popularly known as AA Zaura, has dismissed as false, the allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that people were being financially induced to join the ruling APC.
Zaura, who spoke through his media aide, Dahiru Maihuddadu, described the claim as a desperate attempt by opposition elements to discredit the growing popularity and nationwide acceptance of the APC under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.
According to him, the mass defection of governors, lawmakers, and political figures from other parties to the APC is not the result of any financial inducement, but rather a reflection of renewed confidence in the direction the President is taking the country.
“The allegation that people are being paid to join the APC is baseless and untrue. What we are witnessing is a wave of genuine political realignment driven by the progress and reforms initiated by President Tinubu’s administration,” Zaura stated.
He said Tinubu’s economic recovery plans, infrastructure projects, and political inclusiveness have restored faith in the ruling party, adding that many politicians now see the APC as the most viable platform for national development.
“President Tinubu’s success in steering Nigeria back on track has inspired hope across the nation. It is this sense of renewed confidence and belief in his leadership that is attracting new members to the APC, not money as being claimed by our opponents,” he added.
Zaura urged members of the opposition to focus on constructive engagement and issue-based politics rather than spreading false narratives, stressing that the APC remains committed to good governance and the welfare of Nigerians.
He further called on Nigerians to continue supporting the President’s policies, expressing optimism that ongoing reforms will soon yield tangible benefits for citizens in all sectors of the economy.
