Delta Govt Hails Tantita As Oil Output Rises To 1.7 Million Bpd

The Delta State Government has lauded Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for its role in safeguarding oil facilities and enhancing Nigeria’s crude oil output.

Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this in a statement by the government on Monday.

Aniagwu described Tantita’s operations as a “model of corporate citizenship,” noting that its intervention in curbing crude oil theft has helped increase Nigeria’s production from about 1.1 million barrels per day to roughly 1.7 million barrels per day (bpd).

According to him, the improvement has strengthened both the federal and state economies.

“Delta being the number one oil-producing state in Nigeria is benefitting through derivation, even though we still believe that 13 per cent is less than what we expect.

“Beyond Delta, the entire federation is also reaping the benefits of Tantita’s security efforts because improved production translates to greater national revenue,” Aniagwu said.

He reiterated that under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, the state remains fully committed to the security and welfare of citizens’ responsibilities enshrined in Section 14(2)(b) of the Nigerian Constitution.

The Commissioner further highlighted that the Oborevwori administration has invested heavily in infrastructure, social welfare, and job creation aimed at promoting inclusive growth.

“In the last two years, we have spent over N1.3 trn on capital projects – roads, bridges, and flyovers that are on the ground, not in the air,” he said.

“We are prompt in salary payments and have introduced humanitarian interventions to support widows and the vulnerable through various empowerment and job creation schemes.”

Aniagwu said that prudent fiscal management has ensured stability across critical sectors, adding that Delta schools rarely join nationwide strikes due to the government’s commitment to education and solvency.

“Governor Oborevwori believes it is not enough for the government to have money; that money must find its way into the pockets of the people so their standard of living can improve,” he added.

He reaffirmed that the administration’s MORE Agenda – Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security – remains the policy foundation guiding governance across all 25 local government areas.

“As we look ahead to 2027, the Oborevwori administration will sustain this integration between politics and governance to ensure that Delta continues to function effectively and the people keep feeling the impact of government in their daily lives,” Aniagwu assured.
