The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed reports suggesting that the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nanna Nandap, is under investigation for alleged visa racketeering.
In a statement issued on Monday, the anti-graft agency said it has no case whatsoever against Nandap, describing the reports as misleading.
“The Commission wishes to state unequivocally that it has no case with the Immigration CG,” the EFCC said.
The commission acknowledged that there are ongoing cases involving alleged visa fraud by some officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service, noting that such matters are already before the Federal High Court.
It added that investigations are still ongoing and that more officers could be prosecuted if found culpable.
However, the EFCC stressed that Nandap is not connected in any way to the ongoing investigations.
The agency also urged media organisations to verify information before publication to avoid misrepresentation of its activities.
