Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, on Wednesday, October 8, adjourned till October 9, 2025 for ruling on the admissibility of key documents tendered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC against former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN’s Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

Emefiele is standing trial on a 19-count charge bordering on receiving gratification and corrupt demand preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

His co-defendant, Henry Omoile, is facing a three-count charge bordering on unlawful acceptance of gifts by agents.

They have pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.
At the resumed sitting on Wednesday, the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo SAN, continued with the testimony of Alvan Gurumnaan, an operative of the EFCC

Gurumnaan, in his further testimony, provided fresh insights into the digital evidence uncovered during investigations, including the WhatsApp conversations between key individuals in the case.

At the resumed sitting on Wednesday, the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo SAN, continued with the testimony of Alvan Gurumnaan, an operative of EFCC.

He stated that the acronym “PCS,” as found in the WhatsApp conversations, represents a code where “one piece” signified a unit of $1,000.
The prosecution counsel, through the witness, tendered statements by one Raja dated February 13, 14, and 15, 2024, which were admitted as exhibits F1-F6 by the court without objection from the defence counsel.

Further revelations came from an analysis of the mobile phone of Mr. John Adetola, a former executive assistant to the CBN Governor.

The prosecution also presented WhatsApp chats between John Adetola, a former Executive Assistant to Emefiele, and Eric Eboh, where instructions were allegedly given to deliver the sum of $400,000 to “Oga.”

The witness further stated that Adetola confirmed receiving and delivering the amount.
