The family of Osemudiamen Idemudia, a 26-year-old banker with First Bank of Nigeria Plc, is in distress following his mysterious disappearance on Friday, May 9, 2025, while returning home from work in Lagos.
Osemudiamen, who was assigned to the Point-of-Sale (POS) unit at the bank’s Ikota branch, was last seen after he left the office with a colleague for a scheduled appointment at the bank’s headquarters in CMS, Lagos Island.
According to his father, Mr. Julius Idemudia, the meeting with a senior official was eventually cancelled en route, prompting the two young bankers to turn back and head to their respective homes. That was the last time Osemudiamen was seen or heard from.
“He resumed work that Friday and left with a colleague after close of business for a meeting at CMS,” his father told newsmen on Wednesday. “But the meeting was cancelled by the senior officer before they arrived. After they parted ways at CMS, my son never made it home. We’ve heard nothing since then.”
Osemudiamen was expected to board a bus from CMS to Iyana Ipaja and continue to his residence in the Akesan area of Igando. When he failed to return home or make contact, the family became alarmed.
“It was very unusual for him,” Mr. Idemudia continued. “By Saturday evening, we knew something was wrong and we reported his disappearance to the Igando Police Station. Our entire family is devastated. This is unlike him, and we fear for his safety.”
The incident has since been reported to the police. Authorities at Igando Police Station have begun preliminary investigations. The family is also seeking to meet with the Chief Security Officer of FirstBank to support efforts to trace Osemudiamen’s whereabouts.
Efforts to reach the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, for updates proved abortive as calls and text messages to his phone went unanswered as of press time.
The Idemudia family is appealing to the public for any useful information that may assist in locating their son. They have urged anyone who may have seen him or has relevant details about his movements after CMS to contact the nearest police station.
Osemudiamen was described as a responsible and disciplined young man with no prior history of disappearing or cutting off communication. His sudden vanishing has thrown his family, friends, and colleagues into deep concern.
“Our hearts are heavy. We just want him back safe,” Mr. Idemudia said.
