The FCT Police Command has recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux vehicle at Kubacha village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, hours after it was stolen.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the incident occurred on June 20, 2026, when the Divisional Police Officer of Maitama Division, CSP Altine Daniel, received a distress call reporting the theft of a white Toyota Hilux, 2014 model, with registration number BWR 712 CV, from the Wuse II area of the FCT.

The complainant reported that the vehicle was parked at about 1:30 pm, and four minutes later, the vehicle was stolen.

Adeh said the command deployed men along all entry and exit routes in the FCT and alerted to conduct stop-and-search operations, with a mandate to intercept any vehicle attempting to exit the FCT.

Using digital tracking technology, the vehicle was traced and recovered in Kubacha, Kagarko LGA, Kaduna State, at approximately 3:30 pm that day.

The recovery was about two hours after the theft was reported, and one suspect was arrested in connection with the vehicle’s theft.

The arrested suspect and the recovered vehicle are currently in police custody, while an investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the theft and identify any possible accomplice to the crime.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, urged residents to remain security conscious and take proactive measures to protect their vehicles and other valuable properties.
