Fix Bad Roads, Residents Urge Ododo At Kogi Monarch’s 100th Birthday Celebration

The celebration of the Olubunu of Bunu land, Oba Joseph Ikusemoro’s 100th birthday and 64th anniversary on the throne was marked on Sunday in Olle-Bunu, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Dignitaries from various walks of life attended the event, including the Kogi State Governor, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by his Deputy, Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo.

The National President of Bunu Development Association (BDA), Pastor Kolawole Johnson, called for the rehabilitation of the Edumo-Okeoffin-Ayede-Olle-Iluke road and improved security in the district.

He noted that the deplorable condition of roads in Bunu land has encouraged criminal activities.

Johnson requested the governor to direct the Kabba/Bunu Local Government to commence immediate grading of Aiyegunle Ighun-Aduratedo Ape-Igori-Aherin-Eshi road and Ofere-Ihale-Taki road.

Responding, Ododo promised to fix the Edumo-Okeoffin-Ayede-Olle-Iluke road, as highlighted during his electioneering campaign.

He commended the people of Bunu land for their endurance and perseverance, assuring them that their suffering on the road will soon become a thing of the past. The governor also highlighted his administration’s efforts to ensure security in the state.

The Secretary of the Bunu Traditional Council, Oba Sunday Modamori, called on the government to declare a state of emergency on the condition of roads in the district.

The Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, and Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Professor Olu Obafemi, also paid tributes to the Olubunu, describing him as a beacon of hope.

The celebration included traditional displays and the cutting of the centenary birthday cake, anchored by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade.

The Olubunu expressed gratitude to God for keeping him to witness the centenary celebration and thanked all who identified with him.
