The board expressed its appreciation to Mr Manley for his service and contributions to the company during his tenure, and stated its confidence that Mr Jaoji will strengthen the company’s governance structure.
Geregu Power Plc has appointed Mohammed Jaoji as its acting Chief Executive Officer, effective 17 August, and subject to the approval of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Mr Jaoji’s appointment followed the expiration of the tenure of Sean Manley, who served as the company’s Interim Chief Executive Officer till 14 May.
The board expressed its appreciation to Mr Manley for his service and contributions to the company during his tenure, and stated its confidence that Mr Jaoji will strengthen the company’s governance structure.
“The Board is confident that the appointment will strengthen the governance structure and strategic direction of the Company pending the appointment of a substantive Chief Executive Officer,” the company stated.
Mr Jaoji, a mechanical engineering graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), has over three decades of experience in Nigeria’s power sector.
His career spans technical and leadership positions at the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) and Geregu Power Plc.
The engineer served as Head of Maintenance Planning and Performance at Geregu Power between 2007 and 2019.
Also, he subsequently served as Technical Assistant to the Minister of Power from 2019 to 2023 before returning to Geregu Power.
