Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of elder statesman and renowned businessman, Shehu Yahaya, describing his passing as a significant loss to Kano State and Nigeria.
The governor, in a condolence message issued on Sunday through his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, paid glowing tribute to the late elder statesman, saying he lived a life defined by honesty, integrity, philanthropy, and unwavering commitment to the service of humanity.
Governor Yusuf described the deceased as a respected businessman whose contributions extended beyond commerce to community development and peacebuilding, particularly in Dakata Kawaji community in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
He noted that throughout his lifetime, Alhaji Shehu Yahaya remained dedicated to the progress of his community, promoting peaceful coexistence and supporting initiatives that improved the welfare of the people.
According to the governor, the deceased’s legacy of selfless service, exemplary leadership, and generosity would continue to inspire future generations.
“The passing of Alhaji Shehu Yahaya is a painful loss not only to his family but also to the entire people of Kano State. We have lost a father, a respected businessman, and a patriotic citizen whose contributions to humanity and society will continue to be remembered for generations,” Governor Yusuf said.
He further extended his condolences to the bereaved family, friends, associates, and the people of Kano State over what he described as an irreparable loss.
Governor Yusuf prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
Alhaji Shehu Yahaya is survived by several children, including Engineer Muhammad Shehu, a Senior Manager with Gerawa Group of Companies.
