Group Preaches Unity In Nsukka Cultural Zone

Stakeholders of Nsukka cultural zone of Enugu State have stressed the importance of unity to ensure peace and development of the zone.

This was the verdict of the speakers during the second colloquium of Nkpokote Nsukka Development Forum (NNDF) held at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

The Vice Chancellor of UNN,
Professor Simon Ortuanya, in a speech, called for unity and love among the people of Nsukka. He said it was such collective effort that led to the emergence of a native of the zone as the VC of UNN since its inception.
Quoting him, “Our collective strength is essential for our advancement. I welcome you as the 16th Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. It is both historical and transformative. Just last year, this was not conceivable. But today, after sixty-five years, Nsukka stands poised for greatness.”

Barrister Barth Ugwuoke, President of the Nkpokote Nsukka Development Forum, in an address of welcome, stressed the forum’s commitment to promoting unity and progress in the zone. On his part, the chairman of the occasion, and Vice President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Enugu State, Prof Frederick Eze, called for unity and rightful pride among the people of the zone.

NEWSNGR reports that the theme of the colloquium was “Nsukka Rising: Honouring Our Best, Building Our Future”.

Highlights of the occasion included awards presented to some personalities who have distinguished them in their various fields of endeavours, including the late senator representing the zone at the National Assembly, Chief Okey Ezea; former governors of Enugu State, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, and Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; former Chief of Naval Staff, retired Vice-Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla (retrd); founder of Maduka University, Dr Sam Maduka Onyishi, and philanthropist Jimoh Rauf Badamase.
