The Imo State Government has awarded the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the 35.1KM Owerri-Elele road.
According to the states Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development, Ralph Nwosu, the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the road marks a significant milestone in the state’s infrastructure development.
Nwosu further disclosed that the contract was awarded to Craneburg Construction Company and stressed that the project when completed will improve connectivity with the state and sister state of Rivers, facilitating economic growth and safety for motorists and pedestrians.
He noted that the present state of the road will soon become a thing of the past adding that the contractor is already mobilising to site to swing into action.
He assured that the project will be strictly monitored to ensure quality construction inline with the project specifications as contained in the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME)
He said: “Although the road is a Federal road but being undertaken by Imo state Government in MOU mode of execution and considering that the road has been in the the state of disrepair and near impassable condition hence His Excellency’s approval to award the road in other to abate the long suffering of our people and travellers.”
