… As 2.8 Million Expected To Vote
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to deploy 5,903 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) units and 978 additional units as reserves ahead of the November 8 Anambra State governorship election.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Queen Elizabeth Agwu, stated this during the Situation Room Dialogue Session/Strategy meeting on Wednesday at the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election in Abuja.
She said, “We have 5,720 polling units in Anambra State and 183 splits for those units that exceed the margin.
“So, we are going to deploy 5,720 plus 183 BVAS for the governorship election, and we have 978 BVAS as reserves,” she added.
Agwu also confirmed that a total of 2.8 million registered voters were expected to cast their ballots, with about 140,000 new voters registered in the state.
She mentioned many others had received approvals to transfer their voter cards to Anambra.
Agwu reaffirmed that 16 political parties and governorship candidates had been cleared to contest, and arrangements made to ensure a peaceful and orderly election in the state.
The Police command in the state has pledged to mobilise its officers throughout the state to prevent any misdemeanours before, during, and after the election.
