The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State has officially dissociated itself from the activities and recent statements made by Mr. Abayomi Hunye Semako.
The party asserts that his actions do not represent the position of the party or its members within the local government.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 27, 2026, the APC leadership stated that party members across the local government remained united in their support of the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The leadership emphasised that the decision to support Senator Adeola is based on his exemplary record of infrastructure development and human capital empowerment.
They believe that his candidacy represents a crucial opportunity for Ogun West to finally produce the next governor of the state after decades of waiting.
Describing Senator Adeola as a credible and competent candidate, the leadership noted that his widespread acceptance across the state has strengthened the aspirations of the people of Ogun West.
It noted that the zone deserves an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the leadership and development of Ogun State.
The party firmly rejected any claims of support for Hunye, stating that he does not enjoy the backing of Tube Ward or the APC in Ipokia Local Government.
The leadership called on APC members and the general public to disregard any statements or actions attributed to Hunye that purport to represent the party’s position in Ipokia.
The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of the APC’s commitment to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s candidacy, stating, “Our party and its members have consistently maintained unified and unwavering support for the candidature of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, fondly called YAYI, as the gubernatorial candidate of our great party. We firmly believe in his vision and leadership. His record of infrastructural development and human capital empowerment in all facets of governance is unprecedented and legendary. We are convinced that his acceptance across Ogun State gives genuine hope that Yewa land will finally break the jinx, after fifty years of the creation of Ogun State, and produce a Governor who will prioritise the welfare of our people.”
