JUST IN: Kano Orders Closure of Schools for Eid-el-Kabir

The Kano State Ministry of Education has declared a break for Eid-el-Kabir for all public and private primary and secondary schools in the state.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Public Enlightenment at the ministry, Misbahu Yakasai.

According to the directive, boarding schools are to commence their holiday on Saturday, May 23, 2026, and are expected to resume on Sunday, May 31, 2026.

In the same vein, day schools will begin their Sallah break on Friday, May 22, 2026, and resume academic activities on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Parents and guardians were advised to ensure timely collection of their children from boarding schools on the approved closing date and return them promptly at the end of the holiday.

The statement read in part: “Parents and guardians of students in boarding schools are advised to pick up their children on the approved closing date, Saturday, May 23, 2026 and ensure their timely return on the resumption date.”

The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Makoda, also extended Eid greetings to students, teachers, parents, and the wider education community, wishing them a peaceful and joyful celebration.
