The monitor was designed to combine clinical-level accuracy with high efficiency features that make daily tracking easier. Unlike basic battery-only monitors, the Series 5 comes with a USB interface for powering the device, reducing the cost of replacing AA batteries. It also runs on 4 AA batteries.

One of the key upgrades is its dual-user memory system. The monitor can store 99 sets of readings for 2 users, giving a total of 198 records. Each record is saved with a date and time stamp, making it easier for patients to share trends with their doctors during checkups.

Medical experts caution that while home monitoring is helpful, it should be validated with hospital confirmation at least once every 4 months. Users are advised to consult a doctor if the arrhythmia symbol appears frequently or if readings consistently show SYS above 140mmHg or DIA above 90mmHg.
