According to Lagos SWAN, Solaja’s unwavering commitment to chronicling football’s biggest global event has not only preserved significant moments in the sport’s history but has also inspired generations of sports journalists within Nigeria and across the international media landscape.
In a congratulatory message signed by the Secretary of the Lagos State Chapter of SWAN, Comrade Omotunde Bello, the association through its chairman, Ambassador Olatutu Oladunni, commended Solaja for setting an outstanding benchmark of commitment, resilience, and journalistic excellence.
“Lagos SWAN proudly celebrates one of Nigeria’s finest sports journalists and football historians. Covering every FIFA World Cup from Italia ’90 in 1990 to the 2026 edition is an extraordinary achievement that reflects exceptional dedication to the profession,” the statement read.
The association further noted that Solaja’s passion for football and his invaluable contributions to sports reporting have continued to project Nigeria positively on the global stage.
Lagos SWAN concluded by celebrating the veteran journalist’s enduring legacy and wished him many more years of impactful service to sports journalism and the development of sports media in Nigeria.
