The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticised the Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration for what it described as inconsistency and confusion in its handling of the dispute over withheld Local Government Councils’ funds.
The State Government had earlier filed a suit against the Federal Government at the Supreme Court over the seized funds, but later applied to withdraw the case before returning to the apex court again on the same matter.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC said the back-and-forth was a reflection of poor governance and a lack of direction.
According to the party, residents of Osun did not need to look far to see that the state was in crisis under Governor Adeleke, adding that “almost all things are in a state of disarray since the inauguration of his administration in 2022.”
Olabisi further accused the government of attempting to use “mudslinging and blackmail” to silence the opposition and pressure the Federal Government and its ministers into acting outside the law.
He questioned why the government would withdraw its case less than six weeks ago, only to return to the Supreme Court on the same issues without presenting fresh facts.
“It is a big proof of a fact that Osun State is in a big mess to have once entrusted its future in the hands of the current occupiers of the Bola Ige House,” Olabisi said.
