M’Belt Forum Congratulates New Service Chiefs, Hails Ex-CDS

The Middle Belt Forum has congratulated General Christopher Gwabin Musa on his exit as the nation’s Chief of Defence Staff and welcomed Maj-Gen Waidi Shaibu as the new Chief of Army Staff.

THE WHISTLER Online had reported that President Bola Tinubu, on Friday, announced the appointment of new Service Chiefs in the country.

In a statement issued by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, was replaced by Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede, who was, until his appointment, the Chief of Army Staff.

Major-General Waidi Shaibu was named as the new Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshall Sunday Kelvin Aneke is the new Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral Idi Abbas is the new Chief of Naval Staff. However, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General EAP Undiendeye, retained his position.

The change in the hierarchy of the Service Chiefs was in furtherance of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen the national security architecture.

However, in a statement by its National spokesman, Luka Binniya in Kaduna on Sunday, the MBF praised General Musa’s exceptional service and leadership, highlighting his efforts to promote unity among the armed forces and improve troop morale.

“General Musa’s service to Nigeria stands as a profound testimony to discipline, professionalism, and loyalty to the nation.

“His efforts in promoting unity among the armed forces and improving troop morale amid complex security challenges have earned him the admiration of his Officers and Men, including Nigerians across divides,” the statement read.

The MBF expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for giving General Musa the opportunity to serve in such a high capacity.

“We are confident that the President will continue to draw from General Musa’s deep reservoir of experience and patriotism in future national defence-related roles,” the statement added.

Major General Shaibu’s appointment was also celebrated, with the MBF noting his distinguished career and contributions to counterterrorism efforts.

“Major General Shaibu has built a distinguished reputation as a courageous commander and astute strategist,” the statement said.

“His emphasis on intelligence-led warfare, troop welfare, and civil-military collaboration has significantly strengthened Nigeria’s counterterrorism framework.”

The MBF urged Gen. Shaibu to carry out his new responsibilities with dedication, fairness, and renewed patriotism.

“We urge General Shaibu to carry out his new responsibilities with dedication, fairness, and renewed patriotism, as the nation looks to him and his team for stability and peace,” the statement read.

The MBF also congratulated all newly appointed Service Chiefs and prayed for divine wisdom and unity among them in their patriotic task of securing Nigeria.
