Navy Takes Over NDDC Security Project In Bayelsa

The Nigerian Navy has officially taken over the newly completed security facilities constructed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Ayakoro, Bayelsa State.

The Navy, in a terse statement on Sunday, said it took over the project on October 24.

The projects, strategically located along the Nun River, aim to enhance maritime security and promote economic activities in the Niger Delta.

Representing the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Noel Madugu described the handover as a commendable collaboration between the NDDC and the Navy.

Madugu noted that Ayakoro’s location presents both economic opportunities and security challenges such as piracy and oil theft.

He assured that the Navy would effectively utilise the new facilities to strengthen security operations and safeguard lives and property, while urging the host community to support ongoing efforts through the sharing of intelligence.

In a related development, Madugu commissioned newly completed facilities at the Central Naval Command Headquarters, including a renovated Officers’ Mess, a modern gymnasium, and an upgraded conference room.

He commended NDDC Managing Director, Samuel Ogbuku, for his commitment and called for continued collaboration to further boost the Navy’s operational efficiency in the Niger Delta region.
