The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Mrs. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has approved the promotion of 523 staff members as part of the 2025 promotion exercise.
The promotion exercise, according to the Commission, is a statutory performance reward system for staff who met the eligibility requirements stipulated in the Public Service Rules during the 2025 promotion cycle.
In a statement posted on NIMC’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, the Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Kayode Adegoke, disclosed the breakdown of the promotions across various cadres within the Commission.
According to .., two staff members were elevated to the Director cadre on Grade Level (GL) 17, while eight were promoted to the rank of Deputy Director (GL 16). Thirty-five officers advanced to the position of Assistant Director (GL 15).
The statement further revealed that 35 staff were promoted to the rank of Chief Identity Officer (GL 14), 109 to Assistant Chief Identity Officer (GL 13), and 113 to Principal Identity Officer (GL 12).
In addition, 82 officers moved up to Senior Identity Officer (GL 10), while 130 were promoted to Identity Officer I (GL 9).
In her remarks, Coker-Odusote congratulated the newly promoted staff, and described the advancement as both a reward for hard work and a call to greater responsibility in national service.
She urged them to see their promotions as an opportunity to contribute more effectively to the country’s development through efficient service delivery.
The NIMC boss also reiterated the Commission’s zero-tolerance policy on extortion and other unethical practices, warning all staff to desist from any form of corruption. She emphasised that professionalism, integrity and accountability remain core values of the Commission.
Coker-Odusote encouraged all employees to work diligently in 2026 to ensure the successful implementation of the National Identification Number (NIN) project, which remains central to Nigeria’s digital identity framework.
She further reaffirmed her commitment to staff welfare and the dignity of labour, assuring employees that the management would continue to support initiatives that enhance productivity, motivation and institutional growth at NIMC.
