NSCDC Removes Fagge Divisional Officer After Suspect’s Death In Custody

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has removed the Fagge Divisional Officer following the death of a suspect while in custody.

The command also handed over the affected divisional officer, alongside all officers and men on duty at the time of the incident, to the Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police for further investigation and necessary action.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi.

According to the statement, the decision followed the establishment of a panel of inquiry to conduct a discreet and fair investigation into the incident.

“Following the sad incident in which a suspect lost his life at the Fagge divisional office and the subsequent setting up of a panel of inquiry for a discreet and fair investigation into the case, the State Commandant, NSCDC Kano State Command, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, has approved the removal of the Fagge Divisional Officer, SC Amina Musa Kolawale,” Abdullahi stated.

He added that a new divisional officer, CSC Bashir Isa Abubakar, has been deployed to replace her.

The NSCDC appealed to the public to remain calm and continue to embrace peaceful coexistence, assuring residents of its commitment to the sanctity of human life and respect for human rights.

“The command reassures the public of its continuous respect for the sanctity of life, human rights, and its resolve to uphold professionalism, standard operational procedures, integrity, and the rule of law,” the statement added.

The NSCDC had earlier set up a committee to investigate the death of a volunteer supporting staff at the Fagge divisional office.
