Officer Woos denies announcing Broda Shaggi’s death, threatens legal ation

Jubril Oladapo, popularly known as Officer Woos, a Nigerian content creator has dismissed viral claims suggesting that he announced the death of Broda Shaggi,  fellow skit maker.

The clarification follows a social media post on X which falsely alleged that Officer Woos had confirmed Broda Shaggi’s death via his Instagram page.

Reacting to the claim, Officer Woos shared a screenshot of .. on his Instagram story, simply stating: “False.”

In a formal statement issued by his legal representatives, Versed Attorneys, the comedian described the allegation as false, malicious and damaging to his reputation.

The legal team stressed that Officer Woos never made any announcement regarding the death of any colleague, friend or associate, adding that the circulating claims were fabricated and intended to mislead the public.

“Our client has never announced the death of any colleague, friend, or associate on any of his platforms. These publications are entirely manufactured and constitute a deliberate attempt to mislead the public,” the statement read.

The lawyers also addressed a separate viral allegation claiming that the comedian had been arrested over drug-related offences, dismissing it as entirely untrue.

They clarified that Officer Woos has never been arrested, investigated, or linked to any drug trafficking allegations at any point.

Citing provisions of Nigeria’s cybercrime and defamation laws, the legal firm warned that individuals responsible for spreading the false reports could face legal consequences.

The statement demanded an immediate retraction of the claims by all platforms and individuals involved, as well as a public apology within 48 hours.

The controversy comes months after a similar false rumour circulated online claiming Broda Shaggi had been shot during a film shoot in Ogun State, a claim which was also debunked at the time.
