Otti celebrates Ike Nwachukwu on his 86th birthday

“General Nwachukwu remains one of Nigeria’s finest and most decorated patriots,” Mr Otti said in a birthday message issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Njoku Ukoha, on Tuesday.

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has sent birthday wishes to Ike Nwachukwu, a retired general and former senator.

“General Nwachukwu remains one of Nigeria’s finest and most decorated patriots,” Mr Otti said in a birthday message issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Njoku Ukoha, on Tuesday.

“As a gallant soldier, diplomat, and senator who represented the good people of Abia North, he served our nation with distinction as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Employment, Labour and Productivity, where he projected Nigeria’s image globally with dignity, courage and intellect.

“His stewardship during very critical periods in our national history helped to stabilise institutions and deepen our democratic values.”

Governor Otti stated that to Abia State, Mr Nwachukwu is more than a statesman. He said he is a pride of “our land”, a beacon of service, and a shining example of what it means to live a life devoted to duty, honour and community. Mr Nwachukwu’s counsel has remained invaluable, and his commitment to the unity, peace and progress of Abia and Nigeria has never wavered.

“At 86, General Nwachukwu continues to embody the virtues of discipline, wisdom, patriotism and selfless service. He has mentored generations of leaders, and his life story remains a compass for young Abians who aspire to serve with integrity.

“As you mark this milestone, we pray that the Almighty God will continue to grant you sound health, strength, and many more years of impactful life. Abia and Nigeria are proud of you, and we celebrate your legacies of service to our Nation and State.

Happy 86th birthday, General. May your new age be filled with grace, joy, and fulfilment.”
