Anambra State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, has vowed to remain steadfast and resilient following the Supreme Court’s ruling on Monday affirming Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu as the APC’s authentic governorship candidate.
In a passionate statement on his Facebook wall titled “Unbroken: We Will Not Bow to Darkness,” Ozigbo condemned the apex court for issuing its verdict, which he said was “not to truth or justice, but to fear.” He accused the judiciary of bowing to “intense pressure from anti-democratic forces,” alleging that his legal team was silenced and that his case which he described as rooted in truth, merit, and hope was denied a fair hearing.
“They announced their verdict without listening, decided without examining, and declared without conscience,” Ozigbo said. He described the ruling as “a deep wound to Nigeria’s democracy” and a stark reminder of “a judiciary captured and in urgent need of redemption.”
Despite the setback, Ozigbo expressed unwavering determination, emphasizing that courts cannot silence conscience, faith, or the will of a people committed to justice. “We will not bow. We will not surrender. We will not let darkness write our destiny,” he said, adding that the struggle transcends personal ambition and is for “Nigeria’s soul.”
Ozigbo further called on Nigerians to uphold truth and righteousness, stating that history will remember those who stood firm in the face of injustice. “When others chose silence, we spoke up; when others compromised, we stood. That is how we light a candle in the face of darkness,” he said.
Quoting Martin Luther King Jr., Ozigbo concluded: “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” He reassured supporters that oppression may prevail temporarily, but righteousness ultimately triumphs, and those who stand with God will have the final victory.
