The Nasarawa state police command has arrested Dadda’u Mamuda, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Lafia local government area, over alleged threats against police officers.
Mamuda was accused of threatening to kill any police officer involved in the arrest of supporters linked to a political dispute within the party.
The APC chieftain is said to be an associate of Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, former Inspector-General of Police and governorship aspirant in Nasarawa state.
According to police sources, Mamuda made the remarks while addressing supporters of the former police chief.
He allegedly said no person “with integrity” would support Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada representing Nasarawa West, to succeed Governor Abdullahi Sule in 2027.
A police officer familiar with the matter confirmed the arrest on Saturday, adding that the suspect would be arraigned in court on Monday.
