Police Arrest One Suspect In Viral Car Snatching Video In Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended a suspect in connection with a viral video showing an armed robbery and car snatching incident at the Choba area of Port Harcourt.

The suspect, identified as Iruo Young M., was arrested at his hideout in Ikoku, Port Harcourt.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the incident occurred on October 15, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., when armed men snatched a Toyota Avalon car at gunpoint.

She said police operatives trailed the suspect to his hideout and apprehended him, recovering valuable information about the crime.

Accordinv to her, the suspect has confessed to the crime and provided details about his involvement in the robbery.

She added that the police are now working to apprehend the other fleeing suspects, recover the stolen vehicle, and retrieve the firearms used in the commission of the crime.

The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, commended the operatives for their diligence and swift response, which led to the suspect’s arrest.

The Commissioner has warned that the State will not provide a hiding place for criminals, emphasizing the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the State.
