Police Arrest Sowore After Hugging Nnamdi Kanu In Abuja

The Nigerian on Thursday reportedly arrested human rights activist Omoyele Sowore at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

In a post on the microblogging site, X, human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, accused the police and President Bola Tinubu’s administration of undermining Nigeria’s judicial system.

He wrote: “The arrest of Omoyele Sowore at the Federal High Court in Abuja moments ago is preposterous.

“The police and the Tinubu regime are making a mockery of our judicial system. He should be freed immediately. Stop the shenanigans.”

The arrest comes barely hours after Sowore posted on X that he had met with Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)

He wrote, “Finally, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and I met at the Federal High Court today. The man is powerful and unrelenting.

“We greeted and hugged, and the bond is strong!”

Attempts to reach the Force spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, for confirmation were unsuccessful.
