Police Arrest Two Armed Robbery Suspects, Cordon Off Hotel Hideout

Two suspected armed robbers have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command following a coordinated operation that led to the discovery and cordoning off of a hotel believed to be used as a criminal hideout in the Mushin area of Lagos.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi, the arrest occurred on Friday, at about 10:00 a.m., when detectives from the Lagos State Task Force, on duty around Empire Junction by Jibowu inward Ikorodu Road, intercepted four young men suspected to be armed robbers.

Upon sighting the officers, three of the suspects fled, but one of them, identified as Toheeb Adeboye, a 21-year-old male, was arrested.

A search on him led to the discovery of a locally made single-barrel cut-to-size gun, an English Barreta pistol with two 9mm live rounds, and another locally made pistol with ten live cartridges, all concealed in a bag.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed that his gang had just concluded a robbery operation in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, and were on their way to New Supreme Hotel in Akala, Mushin, which he identified as their regular hideout after such operations.

Following the operation, the police sealed off the hotel permanently as investigations into the activities of the criminal gang continue.
