The Oyo State Police Command has reinforced security presence in Ikoyi-Ile, Orire Local Government Area of the state, following reports of an alleged threat of attack by suspected bandits.

According to a statement on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, the command received credible information about a handwritten note, written in both Yoruba and English, which was reportedly dropped in front of a residential building in Ikoyi-Ile. The note allegedly threatened an attack on the community.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Femi Haruna, immediately ordered the activation of the command’s intelligence, tactical and operational response mechanisms.

The State Intelligence Department, working closely with tactical units, has commenced intensive debriefing of individuals connected to the discovery of the note.

Police operational assets were also deployed and repositioned across Ikoyi-Ile and surrounding communities.

As part of visible security measures, armed patrols, stop-and-search operations, intelligence surveillance and strategic area domination have been significantly strengthened, with officers placed on 24-hour high alert.

The Area Command has been directed to maintain constant supervision and sustained patrol coverage within the affected axis to prevent any criminal activity. The police also confirmed that a thorough, intelligence-led investigation is ongoing to determine the origin, authenticity and intent of the alleged threat note.

“As part of deliberate and visible security actions, armed patrols, stop-and-search operations, intelligence surveillance, and strategic area domination have been significantly reinforced.

“Police personnel are currently on 24-hour high alert, with sustained ground presence to deny criminal elements any opportunity to operate or exploit the situation.
