Police, Dangote Cement Renew Security Partnership

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Thursday renewed its collaboration with Dangote Cement Plc to enhance security around critical economic assets and strengthen peace efforts across Kogi State and beyond.

Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 8, Abubakar Zubairu, disclosed this during his official visit to the Dangote Cement Plant in Obajana, Kogi State.

He said the collaboration aims to protect lives, secure host communities, and safeguard businesses that contribute to Nigeria’s economy.

Zubairu explained that such partnerships complement law enforcement operations while creating a stable environment where companies can operate without disruptions.

He assured that the police would continue to protect both citizens and institutions whose activities are vital to national development.

According to him, “I am really impressed by your Corporate Social Responsibility schemes. I am aware you have spent money running into billions on CSR. This is commendable.

“For us our business is security, and the Dangote Cement is very key. You provide jobs for Nigerians, and you have been responsible and responsive to host communities and the nation.

“I want to assure you of our continued support. The valuable work you do in creating jobs and providing CSR programmes contributes to reducing crime in our society.”

Earlier in his remarks, Plant Director of Dangote Cement, Nawabuddin Azad, welcomed the police delegation and stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in security matters.

Engr. Azad said: “your presence here today is not just a routine visit; it is a powerful symbol. It is a symbol of commitment, a symbol of partnership, that the safety of key national economic assets is a top priority. We do not take this for granted.”

He further noted that the company’s operations depend heavily on security, adding that peace remains the foundation of industrial growth.

“But let me be very frank, without security, there can be no production. Without production, there can be no prosperity. The wheels of our company turn not just on power and raw materials, but fundamentally on the oil of peace and security,” he said.

Azad also requested stronger collaboration in areas such as intelligence sharing, support for local police divisions, and building trust between the Force, host communities, and the company.

General Manager, Social Performance, Ademola Adeyemi, and Head of Human Resources and Administration, Azeez Adeniyi, also spoke at the event.

Adeyemi described the visit as an opportunity to reinforce an already existing partnership, while Adeniyi highlighted that a significant portion of the company’s workforce is from Kogi State.

The AIG was accompanied by senior officers, including DCP A. Eljamal, DCP Abubakar B. Ardo, ACP Umar Ibrahim Wurno, CSP Halidu Kasimu, CSP Emmanuel P. Ganya, and CSP Ujah I. Francis.

Records show that in 2018, the Aliko Dangote Foundation donated 150 operational vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja.

The company later contributed 25 additional vehicles, making it one of the biggest corporate donors to the Force in recent years.
