The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four men for allegedly plotting to kill a resident of Ukwulu in Dunukofia Local Government Area and seize his landed property.
Police operatives also recovered two firearms and live ammunition during the operation, which was carried out on Wednesday by the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, in collaboration with Agunechemba security personnel attached to Amichi, Nnewi.
The suspects were identified as Obiora Nwankwo, 38; Chiadikobi Okoye, 36; Emmanuel Mboko, 42; and Ifeanyi Obi, 37.
According to the police, the suspects were arrested at different locations in Ukwulu and Amichi following intelligence on the alleged plot.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, disclosed the arrests in a statement issued on Thursday.
He said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly involved in a plan to murder the victim and take possession of his landed property.
The PPRO said, “the police were still investigating the matter to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy and identify other persons who might have been involved”.
He added that the suspects remained in police custody and would be prosecuted after the conclusion of the investigation.
