Police Mourn As Lagos DPO Passes Away After Surgery

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the death of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Division, Matilda Ngbaronye, who passed away on Friday, after undergoing surgery at the Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, the police described her demise as a huge loss, noting that she was an exemplary officer who served with dedication, professionalism, and integrity.

“The Command mourns the loss of a truly upright and dedicated officer who served with unwavering professionalism and integrity.

“Until her passing, she was known for her diligence, discipline, and commitment to duty. Her friendly disposition and humane approach to policing greatly helped to bridge the gap between the Police and the public she dutifully served,” the statement read in part.

According to the statement, the state Commissioner of Police, Olohunnare Jimoh, and all officers and men of the Command expressed deep sorrow over her death and extended condolences to her family and aged mother.

The Commissioner, it added, had personally reached out to CSP Ngbaronye’s husband and elder brother, who is a priest, to convey the Command’s heartfelt sympathy and support during the difficult period.

“Burial arrangements will be communicated in due course. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement further stated..
